Former Deloitte SA consultant appointed as senior analyst at KW Wealth
David Winckler, a South African Chartered Accountant who began his professional career at global professional services firm Deloitte in South Africa, has been appointed as a Senior Research Analyst at London-based wealth management consulting firm KW Wealth, as part of larger efforts from the firm to bolster is Investment Analysis division.
KW Wealth has operations across England and serves a wide variety of clients, including individuals, charities, trustees and firms operating in the private sector. Within the broad ambit of wealth management, KW Wealth offers support with wealth planning, inheritance planning, and investment management.
It is in the last of these divisions – investment management – that the firm is now looking to bolster its capacity, to which end it has made to strategic appointments. Robert Thompson joins as Head of Research, while South African executive David Winckler will take over as Senior Research Analyst.
Winckler has substantial experience in the financial services domain, and holds a Bachelors and a Masters in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. He began his professional career at Big Four accounting and advisory firm Deloitte in Johannesburg, where he was a Trainee Accountant for two years.
He then spent a brief spell as Equity Analyst for Diversified Industrials & Media at Deutsche Bank Securities in Johannesburg, following which he moved overseas to rejoin Deloitte as an Audit Senior in its Vancouver operations. After a two-year hiatus, Winckler joined Deloitte UK as the Manager for Corporate Finance.
In the interim, Winckler tested his entrepreneurial capabilities, co-founding Halo Capital in South Africa. Primarily an investment club, Halo Capital was conceptualised as a market research firm that would examine the operations of JSE-listed companies and offer substantiated advice on investments.
Wincler’s new role at KW Wealth fits perfectly within this area of expertise, given that he will take over as Senior Research Analyst, tasked with leading the firm’s fund due diligence operations as well as its selection process. His role is a supporting one to Thompson, who will be leading the department.
