Logicalis boosts South Africa practice with new strategic acquisition
Digital solutions firm Logicalis is continuing its expansion in South Africa, this time through the acquisition of East London (South Africa) based information communications technology (ICT) solutions firm Mars Technology. The acquisition expands the scope and reach of Logicalis’ services.
Mars Technology was established in 1998 in the Eastern cape, and has since expanded to a number of locations across South Africa. The firm now operates in the key financial centres of Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth, in addition to its East London practice.
Nestled within the ICT domain, the firm offers a wide range of solutions, which include managed IT services, software solutions, remote monitoring & management as well as network & risk solutions. In its services line, the firm delves in the communications, consulting and application fields.
The firm will now operate under Logicalis in South Africa, following a strategic acquisition. Logicalis is a British digital solutions firm that has operations across the globe, and has been focusing its growth strategies in the South African market recently. Earlier this year, the firm made three senior appointments to its South Africa practice.
South African is at a pivotal stage of its economic growth, wherein the old practices are gradually being replaced by trends that are more in keeping with the global market, driving a number of firms to invest in technology and innovation. Logicalis is looking to capitalise on this scenario.
Logicalis is the digital solutions and managed services arm of global ICT firm Datatec, and Mars Technology will now join this global network. Logicalis has been the strongest contributor to the network, accounting for 40% of the revenue and driving a majority of the profits.
Commenting on the new acquisition, Datatec CEO Hens Montanana said, “With the acquisition, the Logicalis South African operation strengthens and expands its managed services offering to better serve our corporate customers and deliver new services to existing customers from both companies.”
