BCG appoints new Managing Director for its Johannesburg practice
Tijsbert Creemers-Chaturvedi has taken over as Managing Director at the Johannesburg office of global management consultancy The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). He has been at the consulting firm for more than a decade, situated in the Financial Institutions and Insurance practices.
Creemers-Chaturvedi holds a Masters and a PhD from Leiden University, and has had a rich professional career that features illustrious employers. He has a range of technical expertise, which brought him to Phillips Electronics before he joined BCG. At Phillips, he worked in the seminconductors, research and components divisions.
He has been at BCG for more than 15 years, where he has not only worked in varying geographies, but has also served clients in a variety of industries. He is currently at the firm’s Johannesburg office, prior to which he has worked at BCG’s offices in Mumbai and Amsterdam as well.
As a result, he is competent in a number of languages, including Dutch, German, English, French and a basic level of Hindi. During his time at BCG, he has primarily worked in the domains of Financial Services and Insurance, where he has worked with a number of clients over the years.
Some of his projects have involved the development of banking strategies for banks and life books strategies for insurance firms. More recently, his projects have involved the facilitation of digital transformations across a number of banks, in line with broader market trends.
His involvement in the sector has come at a time when – particularly in the South African context – the banking sector is growing steadily on the one hand, but facing disruption from the regulatory and digital domains on the other. He has helped large banks develop competitive strategies, in light of the challenge from smaller companies in the financial technology (FinTech) domain.
He now takes over as a Managing Director of BCG in Johannesburg, where he will work under Senior Partner and Director Adam Ikdal. In his new role, Creemers-Chaturvedi be involved in operations across the country. The Johannesburg practice counts 12 Partners – including Creemers-Chaturvedi – with clients across the broader region of Sub-Saharan Africa. BCG now counts a total of 28 Partners across Africa.
