New CEO Anastacia Tshesane to lead PwC’s 5,200-strong team in South Africa

Global accounting and consulting firm PwC has appointed Anastacia Tshesane as the firm’s next CEO, effective 1 July 2026.

Anastacia Tshesane currently serves as the Chairman of the PwC’s Governing Board in South Africa and of the firm’s Governance Board for Africa.

In her new role, Tshesane will lead a team of over 5,200 people working from 14 offices across South Africa. She also will oversee Strategy&, which is PwC’s strategy consulting subsidiary.

Tshesane has been with PwC for 19 years. She comes from the firm’s Assurance business, and has led audits of large local and multinational companies in sectors including financial services, consumer markets and industrial products.

Tshesane will succeed Shirley Machaba, who has served as the South Africa CEO since 2019. Machaba will retire from the firm at the end of her term on 30 June 2026, concluding a 24-year career at PwC.

Earlier this year, PwC was named South Africa’s leading consulting firm, ahead of its Big Four rivals.
