BCG promotes Dawie Scholtz to Managing Director and Partner in Johannesburg

Global strategy and management consulting Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has promoted Dawie Scholtz to Managing Director and Partner in its Johannesburg office.

Dawie Scholtz joined Boston Consulting Group nine years ago and has worked with leading organisations in the energy and mining sectors where he leads business intelligence efforts, working across both BCG and BCG X (the firm’s digital arm) to apply data and advanced analytics to client challenges.

A recognised expert in his field, Scholtz has focused extensively on liquid fuels across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, as well as driving operational improvements in mining.

Commenting on his appointment, Scholtz said: “I’m excited to take on this role at a time when data and AI are changing how we solve problems. I’ve always been passionate about using analytics to make a real difference for clients, particularly in energy and mining. The opportunity to help scale these capabilities and deliver tangible results is what excites me most about what lies ahead.”

Lucas Chaumontet, Managing Director and Senior Partner, and Head of BCG in South Africa, commented: “Dawie has consistently delivered for our clients in energy and mining, and his leadership in analytics has been central to that impact. His appointment reflects both the strength of our local team, and the role data and technology are playing in how we support clients today.”

“Dawie represents the next generation of BCG leadership in Africa; deeply rooted in local context and closely connected to our clients’ most pressing challenges,” added Lisa Ivers, Managing Director and Senior Partner, and Head of Africa at the consulting firm. “His promotion reflects our continued focus on building strong, homegrown leadership across the region.”

Earlier this year, Boston Consulting Group also strengthened its leadership team in South Africa with Mandisa Mazibuko. She joined from rival McKinsey & Company and was appointed Managing Director and Partner.

In Africa, Boston Consulting Group has a team of nearly 600 people working from its offices in Johannesburg, Cairo, Casablanca, Lagos, and Nairobi.
