Sonwabo Mateyisi joins HKA as Managing Director in the Advisory practice
Global consulting firm HKA has bolstered its Advisory practice in South Africa with Sonwabo Mateyisi, who joins as Managing Director.
Mateyisi brings more than 25 years of experience in investment and capital projects across the manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, mining, and agriculture sectors.
His career began at the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC) and the Development Bank of Southern Africa, where he gained extensive experience in both private and public-sector investments across multiple sectors, industries, and geographies.
During his time at Deloitte and KPMG, Mateyisi advised both public and private sector clients on complex projects spanning diverse industries and geographies. He has built a strong track record in appraising, structuring, and delivering investment initiatives, working extensively with Development Finance Institutions, state owned enterprises, and private investors.
Speaking on his new role, Mateyisi said, “South Africa is undertaking massive investment in infrastructure. I’m excited to be joining HKA’s advisory service line and look forward to working with its experts to make an impactful contribution to the country’s infrastructure development.”

Sonwabo Mateyisi holds an MBA in Risk Management from the University of Saint Mary, a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Johannesburg, and a Master of Arts in Economics and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen.
