Kroll expands in South Africa with new office in Johannesburg

Global consulting firm Kroll has opened a new office in Johannesburg, underscoring its commitment to South Africa and its growth ambition in Africa.
Located in the city’s Sandton financial district, the new Johannesburg office will be led by Stefan Smyth, Managing Director at Kroll, who has 15 years of experience in restructuring and insolvency cases.
Kroll has over 50 offices worldwide, with Johannesburg its first in the African continent. The office will therefore also serve as a hub for projects in other African countries.
“We are delighted to officially open our new office in Johannesburg, enabling Kroll to offer a wider breadth of risk and financial advisory solutions to companies operating in South Africa and across Africa,” said Paul Clark, Managing Director and Global Head of Restructuring at Kroll.
“With more international organizations, lenders and funds now operating in Africa, this new office will allow us to deliver on-the-ground expertise and better serve existing and new clients.”
Mike Cooke, Managing Director and Restructuring Leader for Kroll in Africa, added: “Kroll’s restructuring team has advised clients in South Africa for a number of years. With increased demand for restructuring services resulting from international and domestic challenges, we are delighted to be able to enhance our offering in Africa through a high-quality local team, led by Stefan.”
Smyth is joined in Johannesburg by Alison Timme, also a licensed Business Rescue Practitioner with over 10 years of experience in Africa. Smyth and Timme both advise companies, lenders and investors on restructuring, insolvency and complex business situations in the African market.
In the coming months, Kroll aims to expand its services portfolio in South Africa to also include forensic investigation and dispute resolution services.
