Allianz Commercial appoints ex-PwC’er Anton Kolbe as CFO for South Africa

Allianz has appointed former PwC’er Anton Kolbe as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of its Commercial business in South Africa.

Anton Kolbe brings over 15 years of experience in finance and auditing to the role, with extensive expertise in topics such as finance, reporting, risk management, compliance, investment management, and process improvements. He will directly report to Thusang Mahlangu, CEO of Allianz Commercial in South Africa.

Kolbe has been with Allianz since 2024, when he joined as Financial Controller for the Commercial business in South Africa. Before that, he held senior roles in auditing and finance at RGA for eight years and worked for PwC for five years.

During his time at PwC, Kolbe oversaw audits for asset management and insurance clients, and advised clients on risk assessments and financial stability. He was based out of Cape Town and also spent six months in the United States as part of the firm’s secondment program.

Allianz Commercial is Allianz’s insurance business for mid-sized businesses, large enterprises and specialist risks. Customers include consumer brands, financial institutions and industry players, the aviation and shipping industry as well as family-owned and medium enterprises.
