Verdant IMAP advises OADC on acquisition of NTT Data’s data centre portfolio

Pan-African data center firm Open Access Data Centres (OADC) has acquired a portfolio of South African data centre assets from NTT Data. Verdant IMAP provided buy-side M&A advisory to the deal.

In a statement, OADC announced that it has acquired seven data centers from NTT Data, located in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, East London, Bryanston and Parklands in Johannesburg, Gqerberha, and Umhlanga.

The deal includes associated infrastructure, equipment, supplier contracts, and lease agreements at each of these locations, as well as the property on which the Parklands data center is situated. These assets support enterprise, wholesale, and cloud connectivity requirements for South Africa’s growing digital economy.

The transaction has received approval from the Competition Commission of South Africa. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

For OADC, which is part of WIOCC Group, the bolt-on strengthens its position as a multi-regional digital infrastructure provider, expanding its footprint in South Africa while complementing its broader pan-African and international network and connectivity assets.

Founded in 2021, OADC operates six hyperscale data centers and more than 30 Edge sites in South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria. In South Africa, the company has facilities in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town (two hubs).

Verdant IMAP, an African investment bank and M&A consultancy firm, served as the lead advisor to OADC.

“The transaction involved navigating a complex process, including the resolution of commercial, legal, and structural considerations. The transaction required extensive coordination across financial, commercial, legal, and operational workstreams over a prolonged negotiation period, reflecting the complexity typically associated with large-scale digital infrastructure transactions,” stated Verdant IMAP in a release.

Verdant IMAP is a member of IMAP, with over 600 professionals across 50 countries one of the world’s larger network for mid-market transactions.
