Aurecon ranked SA's 10th best engineering company to work for
Aurecon – an engineering consultancy that operates out of South Africa and Australia – has been ranked in the top ten companies to work for in South Africa amongst engineering and technology firms. The ranking is based on a survey conducted by Swedish market research company Universum.
Each year, Stockholm-based branding and market research firm Universum releases a 'most attractive employer ranking' for the global market, as well as a specialised ranking for key individual markets, based on a survey conducted amongst professionals as well as fresh graduates.
For this year’s South African rankings – specifically in the engineering and technology domains – the firm collected responses from over 22,000 professionals in the country, covering a wide array of relevant topics such as work-life balance, flexibility to pursue future career goals, culture, etc.
A number of prominent firms made the top ten in the rankings, including the likes of Google, Sasol, and Microsoft, although the first representation for the consulting industry – which is usually a popular employer in the country’s IT sector – came from Aurecon in tenth place.
Founded in 2009, Aurecon is a consulting firm that specialises in the domains of engineering, design, planning, and project management, among others. The firm, which is jointly headquartered in South Africa and Australia, places the attraction and retention of talent amongst its top priorities.
Dean Naidoo, the People Leader for Africa at Aurecon, explains the firm’s ethos by saying, “The standard employee contract and benefits, and offering a career from the cradle to retirement should no longer be the focus of any future-ready firm that wishes to attract and retain top talent."
“At Aurecon, our business is about people and getting to the heart of their aspirations is important to us. It is about setting our people up for success, so that our business remains successful, sustainable, and relevant. The employee of the future desires flexibility, fulfilment, recognition, and wants to make a difference. Aurecon is about agility, innovation, and an unrelenting commitment to creating a legacy, giving us the licence to become an inspiration for Africa. We look for individuals that embrace disruption but at the same time bring ideas to life,” he added.
Commenting on the ranking, Ferdi Nell, Managing Director for Africa at Aurecon said, “Aurecon has established a strong employer brand over the years and we continue to invest in our staff. When people join Aurecon, they know they will be working on some of the most challenging and complex projects in the world. In particular, they know they will be mentored by technical experts and that their voices will be heard, while being given opportunities to future-proof African cities and communities.”
